Mobility Fitness

Aging and challenges with work-life balance require simple and adaptable approaches to maintaining mobility wellness living.

Calvin Dallas is a retired teacher, musician, and distance runner. He may be seen jogging along the eastern roads of St Thomas. Calvin has been practicing Tai Chi for nearly 30 years in several of the public open spaces around town. Tai Chi is a creative extension of Calvin's outlook on life. Balance, harmony, and love are keys to living well, and Tai Chi has all of those elements, he says. Tai Chi is a breathe and flow meditative activity for all ages. Dallas, who is mindful of his diet, practices this meditative, flowing movement to renew his spirit and release stress. Breathe.  Click Here

Walking for Wellness

Walking is one of the easiest ways to get exercise and stay healthy.

  • Start with a short-term goal. For example, walk for 5 or 10 minutes every day.
  • After you've made walking a habit, set a longer-term goal. You may want to set a goal of walking briskly for at least 30 minutes a day.
  • You can use a phone app or wear a pedometer to track your steps each day.
  • To stay motivated, find a walking partner.
